What is Passenger Seat?
Passenger Seat is your friendly travel companion. As you drive, it tells you about the interesting places you pass: the history, the landmarks, the towns, and the places you would otherwise drive right by.
Getting started
- Install Passenger Seat from the App Store. It needs an iPhone running iOS 17 or later.
- Open Passenger Seat and sign in with Apple.
- Tap Start Live and you are on your way.
How to use it
- Live: turn it on and relax. Passenger Seat watches the road for you and reads out stories about nearby places, hands free. It pauses automatically when you park.
- What Was That?!: just passed something interesting? Tap it and we tell you what it was.
- Find Things Near Me: hear one quick story about what is close by, on demand.
- Plan a Trip: get a friendly narrated tour along a route before you go.
- History: everything you hear is saved, so you can listen again any time.
- Story Style (in Settings): choose how stories are written, from deep history to quick practical context.
- Redeem a Code (Settings, then Access): got a code from us? Enter it to unlock full access.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the app need my location?
Location is how we find the interesting places around you. We use it while Live or an Active Trip is on, including in the background if you allow it. Live pauses on its own when you stop moving. You can turn location off in the iOS Settings app, but then the app cannot find nearby stories.
Does it use data while I drive?
Yes. Stories are prepared in the moment, so the app needs an internet connection. In weak signal areas it will let you know it could not reach the internet and will try again when you are back online.
How do I make it stop talking?
Tap Stop while a story is playing. Narration also pauses automatically if you take a phone call.
It mentioned a street address or something that seemed off.
We are continually improving the stories. If something sounds wrong, please email us so we can make it better.
How do I redeem a code?
Open the app, go to Settings, tap Redeem a Code (under Access), and enter your code.
How do I change the voice or the kind of stories?
In Settings, under Narration and Story Style.
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings, go to Account, and choose Delete Account. This removes your account and your access to what you created. See our Privacy Policy for what is kept afterward and why.
